Prostate Cancer and BPH
There has been much debate about whether any association exists between prostate cancer and BPH. Most persons concur that there is not an association between the two, and that men with BPH are not at higher risk for prostate cancer.
That being said, there is some evidence that men with fast-growing BPH may be at a higher risk for prostate cancer than the average male.
While BPH occurs in the inner transition zone, prostate cancer tends to develop in the outer peripheral zone.
